Winner and Holiday Happenings

According to our high-tech drawing system over here, our winner is The Queen Vee.  Congrats, Queen Vee!

****Edit: the queen has declined, as queens are sometimes wont to do, and the runner up is Amanda of What The Bobbin*****

Thanks to all for humoring me and my silly Christmas music.  The next giveaway will be fabric, I promise!

I got picked to participate in Rachel and Sew Love Fabric's Holiday Challenge!  I submitted an idea about making re-usable present toppers, tags and bows.  I think it will be a fun challenge!  Also, I'm delighted to finally have a reason to buy a grommet setter thingy.  (Jenn, what brand do you have?  I need one that sets small grommets.)  The fabric I get to use can be found here.  I love the tone on tone reindeer prints.  Wish me luck!

Is anyone making a Christmas list?  My mother demands one, so I'm filling it up with notions and books that I've been wanting.  I have almost no quilty books and would love your suggestions.  What's your favorite quilty book or notion?  Has anyone tried the bloc loc rulers?  What small frames do you use for hand quilting?

What's on your Christmas list this year?

  1. Congrats to Amanda!

Since we share that particular parental figure, I should be coming up with one, too. Except she only asked for the kids b-day and xmas list this year, hook up!! I'm hoping she'll give me my most favorite present of all. Money. Then I'll be buying something delicious. Or tasty. Or Mmmm.... (All that has to do with quilting, by the way). I guess I'll find out when Christmas rolls around.

My fav quilting books? I'll have to think about that one. And I don't use anything to hand-quilt, just my lap. XO

  2. Yay Mindy for participating in Rachel's challenge (great idea!!!) and ya Amanda for winning the music!! The quilting books I have are older. With so much available on the internet I haven't bought books lately although I do pick up quilty magazines regularly. I would like a patchwork/zakka book and I would like to get the new book by Lynne (Lilly's quilts) and Kerry. I think it is called a complete Condendium of Quilt Blocks or something close to that. Can't wait to see how your bags and bows turn out!!

  3. Gorgeous fabric!! One of my favourite books is 'Tis the Season by Jeanne Large and Shelley Wicks. It's more country but could put an updated spin on it.
What is on my list . . . mmm . . . Skip the Borders by Jaybird Quilts and City Quilts by Cherri House, fabric, thread . . . the list could go on but seriously, would be happy just to have my kids home for the holidays but not going to happen this year. :( Can't wait to see what you do with your yummy material.
