My First Quilt

I found a fun linky party at a blog called My Fabric Relish.  She wants us to blog about our first quilts and link up.  Kinda fun!  Her first quilt, well, it is truly something to behold!  You should go over and check it out.

My first quilt was made just 2 1/2 years ago, and I still like it.  I made it for Kdub's baby boy, which is kinda funny because I'll be posting this week about the quilt I just finished for her baby girl.

I was encouraged to give this quilt a try by my darling friend Chelsea.  She made one for her boy, and had leftover scraps.  She told me it was super easy, a 64 patch QAYG, no binding, quilt.  It was pretty easy, and I fell in love with the whole process of quilting as I made it.  I whipped it up in one weekend while I was at a girls crafty retreat in Breckenridge.  Everyone else was scrapbooking, I was delighted to finally be using my sewing machine.  It was a blast.

I wish I had better pictures!

  2. You did such a good job on your first quilt! Can you believe how much you have learned since then? I couldn't put up a picture because I am not even sure when I made my first quilt. I tied a quilt for college, does that count?

  3. That is an adorable first quilt! I love the cathedral window look! Your first is way better than my awful whiskey quilt.... Haha! Thanks so much for linking up and playing along!

  4. I think our first quilts are some of our best. We don't really know what we're doing quite yet, so we're not afraid. Anyway, cathedral windows is one of my fav blocks (along with stars)!
