Thrifted

Picked up a WIP at the DI today. Why? Well, I don't know. Because it was $4. Some young women went to the trouble of piecing this pink log cabin quilt for her Knowledge value project and then absolutely massacred it on the quilting. She used high quality quilting cottons. The back is a print from Polka Dot Stitches. I happen to have a jelly roll of that line. For four bucks I figure it's worth unpicking. The top isn't horrible, it's definitely made by a beginner. Might be worth donating, or letting the kids learn to quilt on it. Who knows. What would you have done? Is $4 worth it?

  1. Some Sarah Jane in there, too. Sad someone didn't guide this girl a little better. I still have my (rainbow) value quilt from YW and my kids love it! Although I hand stitched mine cuz the lady helping me didn't machine anything, but still. I say good call. I think it's cute!! Not a lot to unpick and a great learning tool (plus, it's cute)!

    1. The Sarah Jane is what threw me over the edge. So far it's been easy to unpick.

    2. I'm glad it's been easy!! I actually really like it. I think it's quite modern looking for log cabin.

  2. Fabulous find, I totally would have bought it, pink being my favorite color! I bet the poor yw didn't have a walking foot. It makes me sad she gave up! That is a TON of work to piece that quilt. I feel really sad for her, I must be hormonal today. Sheesh! Happy for you though. It would look really cute piled with the quilts you have in Mimi's room.
