Cleaning Up

Here's what I have been doing lately: trying to tidy up my wreck-of-a-basement. I should have taken a before picture. Matt bought me a few shelving units and dragged a few empty ones over from cold storage. Now I officially have a craft space. Mind you, the sewing machine is through the door, around the corner and in the finished part of the basement- that's where the outlets are.  And there is nowhere to actually cut up fabric, so I have to haul everything upstairs when I need to do that.  So maybe it's not the *ideal* set-up, but you get what you get and you don't throw a fit.  And it's a heckuva lot tidier than it was last week.

  1. Looks good Mins. You should get a $30 card table from walmart for a cutting table and an extension cord for the outlet, and you will be good to go!

  2. I see great potential! How come you didn't have the builder finish it out, is the cost astronomical?

  3. I think it was 38K to finish the whole basement. We had a family room area finished, that's it. Someday....

    1. Ouch, that's a brutal amount! For drywall and some electrical lines, outlets, etc.? Sheesh. You could probably finish it yourself for a quarter of that. Well, at least Brian and dad could :)

  4. Right?!? Well, it's around 1600-1800 sq ft down there, so that price isn't astronomical. And yes, we will be hiring someone to do it! There are parts we could probably do, Matt is pretty handy. But plumbing, electrical, flooring, insulation, heating vents, baseboards, door and window casings, plus all the permits... It would be an enormous project. We don't even have half the tools we'd need.

    1. Plumbing?! Yeah, I would definitely hire that out. Are you turning it into a master bedroom type thing like at your last place?
