So I've s-l-o-w-l-y been cutting away at my FQ bundle of The Birds and the Bees. I just finished cutting the entire bundle! Man that was a chore! I have yet to see anything anyone has made that I really love out of this line, and I think I know why.... I love this line all together, but only four or five prints by themselves. That's it. Out of what seems to be 30+ prints, I really only like a few. But put them together and I'm captivated. Tula tends to do that to me. I truly only like a few prints, but all together and I can't resist. She's the only one who has that power over me, too. Other designers, nah. I can pick and choose what prints I buy, but with Tula, I gotta get the whole bunch. Dang you, Tula! So I decided that I wanted to make this out of the Birds and Bees thinking it'd be easy. It's not. First off, half rectangles are NOT like HST's, you have to cut them on their diagonal separately. Now for the fussy, too-time-consuming-yet-I-really-like-other-people-doing-it part. Fabric/color play. I want diamonds. Therefore I have to arrange the fabric in certain ways. And I'm not sure how I want the colors to play. Do I want it random? Do I want the blues to form diamonds? The pinks? The purples, etc? I just don't know. So right now I'm calling it good, happy with the fact that I finally finished cutting it all (except not really because I'm going to be adding in some solids to break up the busyness, but I'm pretending I'm done) and I'm going to focus on making Brian's quilt. In the meantime, what do you girls think? I know it's not your style (especially color wise), but any input would be great!
