Fabric Confessional

****Here's the weird thing, I already published this post last night.  When I came to read the comments this morning, it was still a draft, and had reverted to an old unfinished version at that.  Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I came home to a few squishy packages, and had to temper my excitement, so as not to reveal my fabric addiction to my mother-in-law. So yes, Jenni, I am buying fabric too!

I ordered some yardage for my Lotta Confetti quilt, the Yarn-dyed Essex is gorgeous but it is not going to work.  I do like the striped print for the backing.

I got another charm pack of Noteworthy, and more of my favorite print from that line.

I finally got a few of my favorite cuts of briar rose.

Pink Castle's deal of the day, seven FQ's of low volume Dear Stella dots for $10, was irresistible.

I picked up this FQ of AdornIt's Nested Owls.  I've been waiting anxiously for this line because It blends perfectly with that Flirt scrap pack I got last winter.

I treated myself to this little beauty in NYC, a 1/4 yard cut of Liberty of London.  THis is my first purchase of Libert and it is just as buttery and luxurious as they say.

The most interesting thing I've bought recently came the day before my trip, but I  was too busy to look through it, which was torturous.

This is a 4.5 pound 5 inch tall stack of 8" squares.  A scrap pack from a custom baby bedding shop on Etsy.

Over 300 squares, about 75 different prints.  Most prints have 2 or 4 squares, some have 8.  Luckily, I only had two of those prints already in my stash, and I like or love all of them except one.  There were also a few home dec weight and flannel squares included.

I've been curious about the large scrap packs available on Etsy, and when I got several gift certificates for my birthday I decided to satisfy my curiosity.  All in all, I think it was a good purchase.  Seven charm packs would cost $60-70. Seven layer cakes would cost $280.  I paid $46 (with shipping which was $11+) for more than seven packs of 8" squares, if they made such a thing.  I picked this pack because I liked the fabric she offered for bedding in her shop, and because 8" squares are all really useable in size.  Most of the scrap pack are random sizes, so you could end up with snippets.  I think buying fabric someone else has picked adds a depth to my stash that would otherwise be difficult to obtain.  I have more options now, things that are different than all the same stuff I naturally gravitate towards.  Does that make sense?

How about you, have you ever purchased a scrap pack?  Did you feel it was a good value?

  2. I've never bought a scrap pack. I thought about it once, when I saw a scrap pack of Heather Ross's old stuff, but it was too expensive.

Love the dots for 10 bucks!! And too bad that linen won't work, it is gorgeous!! But I'm excited to see it all done!!

  3. I love that viney stuff for the back of your lotta quilt. I think this was a great choice for a scrap pack. I think you got really lucky. I am to chicken to spend the money, because you never know! This is going to be great for your scraps, and guaranteed 8" is awesome.

  4. No, that particular thing hasn't happened, but I noticed that it emailed me twice when I posted my post yesterday.
