WIP Wednesday

I'm feeling pretty good about my progress this summer! I managed to get about half way through the piecing for KDub's quilt. The baby arrives in just two and a half weeks.

Aren't these blocks adorable?  I'm using the Gather Love Baby Quilt tutorial from Riley Blake.

I also made some progress on my Lotta Confetti quilt, which is one I intend to keep. I sort of decided to change directions while I was piecing and now have discovered I have far too many "blocks." So what to do? Keep with the original plan and not waste fabric, or make the change? It's not like this fabric is very suitable for a baby quilt, so what would I do with the leftovers?

I was originally going for this quilt.

Here something similar to what I'm thinking now.  A smaller, tighter, field of confetti blocks offset against a blender background.

I threw this up on my design wall yesterday.  It's still might be too big, and it will also take some finagling as seam allowances will bring each row down unevenly.

Luckily, I have the time to mull this one over, seeing as it will be 100 degrees everyday for the next month and a half.

  1. You can use those extra blocks in the backing, that's what I usually do, so as not to be wasteful. I do love it though!

    1. There's way too many. I pulled out a whole rows worth of the largest blocks. I still have another 40 plus blocks in various sizes leftover.

  2. The confetti quilt layout looks awesome! And if you have extra you could always turn them into a cute bag or even a fun wall hanging.
