Three Baby Quilt Finishes

*Picture Heavy Post*

Just catching up on the three baby quilts I've finished and haven't blogged.  Because I know you're just DYING without minute to minute updates of my sewing accomplishments.  :)

First is the French Braid quilt I made for my friend who finally had the baby girl she's always wanted.  I mostly used McKenzie by Dena Fishbein, with a few other scraps thrown in.  The back is a favorite print called Circles from that line.  The tiny black flowers are a Benartex print, not sure what line.  Inspired by this quilt.

I strayed from my MO and did something other than straight lines across the quilt.  I used the circles on the back as a guide to quilt zig zags.  I wish I would have done heavier quilting in the solid space up top.

The binding is an Anna Griffin print I found locally.  I LOVE how it looks with the quilt.

The second is this QAYG strip quilt using a Mod Century Layer cake and some yardage of the Tweed print from that line.  I really love that Tweed print.

The back is the Jacks print from Tim and Beck's Apple Jack line.  It's available at my local craft store, which means I can use a 40% off coupon!  I ended up using it for the next quilt, too.

I do love a good stripey binding.  This is a stripe from Anne Kelle's Remix that I've been saving for just the right quilt.  I think it looks great with the grey.

This quilt is the one I was supposed to make with my sister-in-law.  We ran out of time, so I just threw it together for her.  I adore this quilt!  Her best friend's new baby boy will have a nursery that features some vintage maps, so that was our starting point.  Looking through my stash, she picked that fabulous Architextures Ledger print.  It has just the smallest hint of orange and turquoise.    We picked the other prints to coordinate with that it.  Sam has a great eye.

I did a few extra quilting lines on the two solids, just for added interest.  If we had the time, I would have liked to do that all over.

The binding is an orange hounds tooth she found at hobby Lobby.

I need to start making baby quilts in advance so I have a pile of them on hand.   That way I can do something more interesting than the strip quilts I've been doing lately!  I'm a little bored of them, but they are perfect in a pinch.

  1. I'm having a problem with the pics being really low quality if I make them any larger. Anyone else running into this? What am I doing wrong?

  2. Yeah, I've been having that problem. It's a pain. That aside, I LOVE your french braid quilt! I've been wanting to make one for quite a while now. Although after that "herringbone"...ugh.
