Ninjas Don't Sleep

Jenn here. Yep, I have jumped into the river and am following the current. I've never done a #along (#economyblockalong) before (which means I actually have to log onto Instagram), but there's a first for everything.

I've been sitting on this assortment of ninjas (I am Ninja, and Ninjas Don't Sweat) for some months now, trying to figure out how to turn it into a baby quilt. Hope my brother and his cute wife like it. Still have to finish that one block and then sash the whole thing, then you know...back, quilt and bind it :)

Question: My iron is leaking water out the cord area (can we say death is on the table) and I'm looking at either a cordless Panasonic or a corded Rowenta. Advice? Anyone have a cordless? Do they get hot enough? I would love to eliminate the cord in my ironing, but if it's not hot enough....

  1. Oh what a fun use of that line! Love the ninjas. I have a travel size corded Rowenta that I love and is over 10 years old. I would recommend it. Best, Kate

  2. I love my cordless Panasonic -- I have the cheaper green one and love that it still stands up (the black one does not stand alone). It gets plenty hot on medium and I rarely use the high setting unless my fabric is very wrinkled from being sroted for a longer amount of time. The drawback I have found (and it realy isn't that big a deal) is you have to stop periodicly and let it warm back up if you are doing something larger (making binding or pressing backing) but this is fine because you have to adjust the project anyway and the reheat up only takes about 10 - 20 seconds -- I just pop it on the base and move the fabric then it stays hot the whole time. I also like the water resivroir is detachable (no water down the iron or wet spots on the ironing board).

  3. Like Katie, I also love my cordless Panasonic. I don't think I could go back to an iron with a cord! You do have to periodically put it back on the base so it doesn't shut itself off, but you get used to doing that. The ninja quilt is going to be adorable!

  4. This is adorable! I'm also looking for an iron, but what I need is compact/travel size iron. I've heard both negative and positive on the compost Rowenta but haven't seen much else out there. Let me know if you have any info!

  6. Great job with the economy block, those ninjas are darling! I have the Rowenta from costco that I bought myself for my birthday before I knew I was getting a serger. Yes, I feel a little guilty about this! I love it, it gets so hot! The cord doesn't bother me, is that weird?
